At first glance it may appear complicated to determine why rent is not being charged, or not appearing on a statement as expected.
However, take a few minutes to run through these basic checks to ensure you have all set up properly.
- If you've set up a tenancy to apply rent each period and that rent is not appearing as expected, first check the tenancy details to ensure that the start date and end date are correct.
- Check that the tenancy is managed, and not let-only. Let-only tenancies will not have rent automatically applied each period, although it is possible to create manual rent adjustments which will be applied immediately if the date is today or in the past, or will remain in pending state until the date arrives if scheduled for a future date.
- Check that the rent value is not set to zero, and that the rent components are accurate if the tenant is expecting contributions from a local authority or benefit agency.
- Perhaps the tenancy has come to its normal end date and although in reality it is now periodic, applying rent each period on an ongoing rolling basis, the tenancy on ShowHouse may not have bee updated to reflect this. Check that it is periodic if you expect it to be.
