Once a payment of housing benefit has been made from the local authority and recorded in ShowHouse, this can be allocated to individual tenancies in accordance with the benefit payment schedule.
Allocations from the overall benefit payment may be made to tenancies which fulfil the following criteria:
- are associated with the benefit authority which made the payment
- have a non-zero benefit balance due
- have not already received an allocation from this benefit transaction
The allocation screen will show details of any allocations made to date, along with the total benefit receipt value and the amount remaining to allocate.
The allocation form will display all tenancies relating to this benefit authority, with non-zero balances, which have not yet received an allocation from this transaction.
Each tenancy in the form will show the tenant and property details, the current benefit balance, and the value field will be set to the benefit payment value specified in that tenancy's benefit details. Click the tenancy link to view or edit that tenancy.
Enter the amount to be allocated to each tenancy in turn, in line with the schedule, set the allocation date (defaulted to the current date) and click Save to store the allocations. The overall transaction will be updated to reflect these new allocations, which may be viewed on the allocation summary page.
To assist with completing this form if only making a number of allocations, you can click Set All Allocations to Zero to set all form fields to zero values.
A management fee may be charged to the landlord when a benefit payment is allocated to pay rent on a tenancy. More details on applying management fees for collecting rent.
